The Seconds again went a weekend without a match as their match against North Wicklow was called off and a walkover given to Knockharley, The only cricket played today was an entertaining youth match at a sun drenched Knockharley. Two teams of nine captained by Jack Condie and Harry Shivmangel respectively played a 25 over a side match. Harry's team batted first and put on 97 off their 25 overs, Harry batted well to retire on 29* as did Eoin Lynch and Matthew Walsh, Eoin O'Connor, Conor Murtagh and Ross Shivmangel were all amongst the wickets and bowled well. In reply Jack's team never really got going and despite some good batting from Danny Gough 13*, John Shortall and Eoin O'Connor they fell short at 50 all out. Ross Kelly, Bunni Singh,Eoin O'Reilly,James Cahill and Shane Giggins were amongst the wickets and were helped by fine catches from Shane Giggins and Lorcan Byrne. Thanks to Joe, James, Liam and Ralph for all their help. We look forward to next year and an entry into Leinster under age competition and hopefully a Midlands under age competition.
On a completely different note Mervyn (old fox) Whaley is missing a book he donated to the club titled "The art of captaincy" by Mike Brearley, If anyone knows where the book is please let me know.
